Support CHAT this Harvest

Sep 21
2 min read

As autumn arrives and communities across Mid Devon come together to celebrate Harvest, we’re inviting local churches, schools, businesses, community groups and individuals to support CHAT with their Harvest giving this year.

Harvest is traditionally a time for giving thanks and sharing what we have with others. For CHAT, the generosity we receive at this time of year helps us continue providing practical support to local people who are facing difficult circumstances.

Your Harvest donations make a difference

Throughout the year, CHAT supports people across Mid Devon who are experiencing homelessness, housing difficulties and financial hardship.

For someone struggling to afford everyday essentials, something as simple as a bag of groceries or much-needed toiletries can make a real difference. Donations from our community help us provide practical support at a time when household budgets continue to be stretched.

Every tin, packet and essential item donated helps us to be there for people in our community when they need a little extra support.

What do we need?

If you’re planning a Harvest collection for CHAT this year, we are particularly grateful for donations of: cereal, custard, biscuits, crackers, long life milk and tinned meats.

Take on our Harvest Food Challenge! Can you collect 30 items for Harvest? Challenge yourself or get together with family, friends, school, church, workplace or community group and see if you can complete the sheet! Download your copy here. We always appreciate items that are unopened, in date and easy to store and distribute.

If you’re organising a larger collection and would like to check what we need most before you begin, please get in touch with the CHAT team. We’ll be happy to help you make your collection as useful as possible.

Could your community collect for CHAT?

There are lots of ways to get involved.

Your church or faith group could choose CHAT as the recipient of its Harvest collection. A school or nursery could invite families to bring an item into school. Workplaces and local businesses could set up a collection point for staff or customers, while community groups could organise their own Harvest donation.

Or you can simply add an extra item or two to your own shopping and donate them to CHAT.

However you choose to take part, it all adds up.

Make a Harvest donation

Harvest donations can be brought to:

CHAT office or put into one of our collection boxes at Lidl, Tesco or Morrisons

If you’re planning a larger collection, would like to arrange a time to bring your donations to us, or would like a visit to your church, school or group please contact peter.bangs@chatmid.co.uk

Thank you for thinking of CHAT this Harvest, and for continuing to support people in our local community.
