Morris Dancers, Classic Cars and Cream Teas: Ashley Court Throws Open Gates in support of CHAT

Hundreds enjoyed the sunshine, stalls and Morris dancers at Ashley Court Summer Fayre

The Regency era house and gardens were the perfect backdrop for the event, which raised nearly £3,500 for local charity CHAT who tackle housing and poverty issues.

It was hosted by Tara and Nigel and new Town Mayor Cllr Susie Griggs officially opened the fayre, arriving in style accompanied by a bagpiper, setting the tone for a day of traditional summer fun.

There were more than 25 stalls showcasing the best of local makers, crafters and growers, while the Winkleigh Morris Dancers entertained with lively performances throughout the afternoon. A violinist added to the festive atmosphere with impromptu musical interludes.

Visitors could take guided tours of the beautiful open gardens, admire a display of classic cars, try their luck at the coconut shy, and enjoy delicious cream teas and refreshments. Families also had the chance to try flower press making and watch clothes demonstrations.

The funds raised will support CHAT's vital work helping people across Mid Devon facing housing difficulties, debt and food insecurity.

CHAT provides free advice on housing, debt and money matters, alongside practical support through its foodbank, affordable pantry and household items service. Last year, the charity supported over 2,400 people with food assistance and conducted more than 2,500 advice sessions.
